Privacy Policy

Short version: We make sure that your data is handled in a way which complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act 1998, and any other relevant legislation.

Long Version: In this document, ‘we’ refers to Made Purple Ltd (T/As THE VVG.com) and its representatives. ‘You’ refers to visitors to our website and our customers.

Who is responsible for your data?

Why do we process and store your data?
We need to store and process your data if you make an download or register with us, to allow us to provide our services. This includes your name, contact details, pet details etc.  .

We only store or process data which you have given directly to us and which we need to enable your chosen practice to offer your pet the very best in veterinary care.

How long will we keep your data?
We may need to keep your personal details until up to 6 years after you have registered. After this date your data will be anonymised, unless you have ‘opted in’ to receive ongoing communications. Please contact your chosen vet practice to confirm how long they will hold onto the data you provide within the app as these may vary.

Who has access to your data?
Our data protection officer is responsible for managing access to the personal data we store. Generally speaking, only the data protection officer and authorised members of staff will access your data from within the VVG. You will need to confirm how your data is handled with your registered vet practice whose contact details can be found within the “my account” section of the app.

Some of the services we use will also store a copy of your data. For example, our email provider Fasthosts, and any providers they use to provide their services. If you send your details over a social media platform, that platform may keep a copy of your messages.

We do not sell or give your data to any third parties aside from your registered vet practice for their marketing purposes.

Who else might your data be shared with?
We reserve the right to share your personal data with other third parties if required for legal reasons. For example, in the case of a request under the RIPA legislation, a tax audit, or to prevent fraud. All Data collected via the APP or at https://www.thevvg.com will be available to your registered practice who’s ability to handle your data will be governed under their own privacy policy.

How can you see what data we store about you?
You have the right to request details on any data we store about you. We can send a copy of your data to the email address you entered when using our services. However please note that only the main account holder can request details of the data we hold on that account, service users listed under must request their data through the registered email address that we hold related to that account. At the VVG we will only be able to provide generic account data that we hold for you, to access clinical notes or pet specific data you will need to get in touch with the data officer at your registered vet practice.

How can you opt in or out of our marketing messages?
We NEVER send marketing messages to our users, However your registered practice may from time to time send out marketing materials via our application. You can manage your marketing preferences at any time by visiting the notification settings within the my account section of the VVG app.

How does our website use cookies?

How do you make a complaint about our use of your data?
The Information Commissioners’ Office (ICO). is the authority for data protection in the UK. If you have an unresolvable problem with us and our use of your data, they are who you should contact.
